    • Kids up to 12 (13 special needs)
    Good to know: Spanish forms and interpretation help are available.
  2. Step 2 of 6: Get your papers ready

    • ID and proof you live here
    • Proof of your money
    • Work or school schedule
    • Child's birth certificate
    Important: Kids in licensed care also need immunization records.
  3. Step 3 of 6: Apply your way

    Online, by phone, or in person

    Important: A waiting list may apply if funding is limited.
  4. Step 4 of 6: Finish any interview

    • Go to your appointment
    • Answer requests fast
    Don't miss: Missing papers or appointments can delay or end your subsidy.
  5. Step 5 of 6: Pick your provider

    After you get your certificate

    • Get your subsidy certificate
    • Choose a licensed or registered provider
    Important: Only licensed centers, licensed home care, and registered family, friend, or neighbor providers qualify.
  6. Step 6 of 6: Start care

    • Pay your small share to provider
    • Provider gets paid each month
    Good to know: Your certificate usually lasts one full year. Your copay is set on a sliding scale based on your income.
