  1. Step 1 of 6: See if your child qualifies

    • Age 3 or 4 by September 1
    • Has at least one risk factor
    Good to know: Kids with an IEP are eligible and cannot be turned away if they meet the other rules.
  2. Step 2 of 6: Find a program

    It runs through school districts

    Important: Application steps and deadlines are different in each district.
  3. Step 3 of 6: Get your papers ready

    • Proof of child's age
    • Proof of where you live
    • Shot records
    • Health screening
    Important: The health and development screening must be done within 90 days of enrollment.
  4. Step 4 of 6: Apply by the deadline

    • Ask your district for the form
    • Turn it in on time
    Good to know: Applying early is recommended.
  5. Step 5 of 6: Wait for your answer

    • Answer in a few weeks
    • Accepted or waitlisted
  6. Step 6 of 6: Finish enrolling

    • Complete final steps
    • Your child starts preschool
