What is the RSIC Child Care Program?
The RSIC Child Care Program, part of the tribe’s 477 self-sufficiency initiative, offers center-based care for children aged 3 months to 13 years. It supports tribal families living on the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony and Hungry Valley, helping those who are working, seeking employment, or attending school/training. Meals are provided through the CACFP and tribal funding, and there is a sliding-scale fee for eligible participants.
How do I apply?
Download and complete the RSIC Child Care Application (PDF) through the RSIC Education Department – 477 Program
Gather required documents (see next section).
Submit in person at:
Reno Center: 34A Reservation Rd, Reno, NV 89502
Hungry Valley Center: 9055 Eagle Canyon Rd, Sparks, NV 89441Or mail or fax the application to the Education Department.
Schedule employment/training/job-search verification with your 477 Case Manager.
How long does it take to receive care?
Once your complete application is submitted and verified, services begin for the authorized period. As this is tribal 477-funded care—not CCDF—services are not retroactive.
What do the application steps look like?
Download or pick up the Child Care Application.
Fill it out and attach required documentation.
Submit to the RSIC Education Department (Reno or Sparks).
Attend intake with a 477 Case Manager to verify eligibility.
Receive confirmation and enrollment details.
Begin child care at Reno or Hungry Valley center for approved hours.
What documentation is required?
Tribal enrollment verification (parent or child).
Proof of age: child’s birth certificate, immunizations
Social Security cards for parent(s) and child(ren).
Proof of household income: pay stubs, benefit statements, or training enrollment
Job/training schedule or job-search logs (weekly check-ins required)
Guardianship papers: if applicable, per the application form .
Common FAQ’s
1. Who qualifies?Tribal families living on RSIC land (Reno or Hungry Valley), with parents working, training, job-seeking, or in education—only tribal members or descendants are eligible.
2. What ages are served?Children aged 3 months to 13 years, with care aligned to parents’ schedules.
3. Are meals provided?Yes—meals are provided through the CACFP and RSIC funding.
4. Is there a cost?A sliding-scale fee applies for eligible families. Full fee schedules aren’t publicly posted—ask during application rsic.org.
5. What if I have a job change or leave?You must report changes in employment, training, or household composition to the 477 Case Manager—failure to do so can change eligibility.
