  1. Step 1 of 5: See if your child fits

    • Child is 3, 4, or 5 by July 31
    • You live in the KCPS area
    Good to know: Regular Pre-K is open to all families, no matter how much you earn.
  2. Step 2 of 5: Pick your program

    • Head Start (income-based)
    • Neighborhood Pre-K school
    • Special programs like Montessori
  3. Step 3 of 5: Get your papers ready

    • Birth certificate and shot records
    • Your ID and Social Security card
    • Proof of where you live
    Important: For Head Start, also bring proof of your money: pay stubs, tax papers, or benefit letters.
  4. Step 4 of 5: Apply

    • Apply online at enrollkc.org
    • Visit 2901 Troost Ave
    • Call 816-418-7505
    Good to know: For Head Start, call MARC at 816-841-3382 or fill out their interest form. Kids can start right after approval.
  5. Step 5 of 5: Wait for your seat

    • Sign-up opens November 9
    • Seat news around February 24
    Important: There is no bus service. Families handle drop-off and pick-up.
    Good to know: All Kansas City Pre-K programs are completely free. Your child gets a head start on school!
