    Who this program helps

    • Child under 13 (19 with special needs)
    • Income within the limits
    • You work, study, or train
    Important: Help during college or training has a 24-month lifetime limit.
  2. Step 2 of 6: Get your papers ready

    Gather these first

    • Photo ID and birth certificates
    • Pay stubs or tax returns
    • Work letter or class schedule
    • Proof of where you live
  3. Step 3 of 6: Send in your application

    Online or on paper

    Important: Make sure everything is complete and correct to avoid delays.
  4. Step 4 of 6: Wait for your answer

    HHS reviews it

    • Notice of Decision comes to you

  5. Step 5 of 6: Pick an approved provider

    They must be HHS-approved

  6. Step 6 of 6: Start care and keep it going

    The state pays your provider

    • Money goes to your provider
    • Report changes within 10 days
