  1. Step 1 of 5: See if your child fits

    • Turns 3 by December 31
    • Lives in New York City
    Good to know: Full Day 3-K is free for all who qualify: 6 hours 20 minutes a day, September through June.
    Important: Extended Day/Year and City Transitional seats are year-round but based on income.
  2. Step 3 of 5: Apply on MySchools

    January 15 to February 28, 2025

    Good to know: The order you rank programs does not change your child's priority.
    Good to know: Twins? Submit identical applications so they can go to the same program.
  3. Step 4 of 5: Wait for results

    Results come in the spring

    • Watch for your results
    • Missed it? Waitlist open to September
    Important: Sibling priority does not guarantee siblings will attend the same school.
  4. Step 5 of 5: Your child starts 3-K

    • Meals and snacks included
    • Play time every day
    • Daily nap or rest time
    Good to know: Your child cannot be turned away for not being toilet trained. Welcome to 3-K!
