  1. Step 1 of 5: See if your child fits

    • 4 years old by September 1
    • Lives in Florida
    Good to know: VPK is free for every family, no matter your income.
  2. Step 2 of 5: Get your papers ready

    • Birth certificate or passport
    • Utility bill, lease, or license
    • Income papers (priority only)
  3. Step 3 of 5: Send in your application

    Important: Apply early. Late applicants can lose priority, and some areas have waiting lists.
  4. Step 4 of 5: Get your answer

    • About 1 to 2 weeks
    • Enrollment confirmed
  5. Step 5 of 5: Pick a preschool

    • Choose a VPK provider
    • Confirm your child's spot
    Good to know: Your child gets 540 free class hours for the school year — about 3 hours a day, with full-day options too.
