  1. Step 1 of 5: See if it fits your family

For the very youngest — and moms-to-be

    • Pregnant women
    • Babies & toddlers, birth to age 3
    • Care, health & family support
Good to know: Kids in foster care, families without housing, and kids with disabilities come first.
  2. Step 2 of 5: Find a program near you

Programs run in your own community

  3. Step 3 of 5: Get your papers ready

    For you and your child

    • ID for you and your child
    • Proof of your money
    • Proof of where you live
    • Health & shot records
Good to know: Missing a paper? Apply anyway. The program will help you.
  4. Step 4 of 5: Apply

Pick the way that's easiest for you

    • Online
    • In person
    • By phone
    • Through a local help group
Good to know: It's free to apply, and staff will help you fill it out.
  5. Step 5 of 5: Wait for the letter

Most families hear back in 2–4 weeks

    • Watch for the letter
    • Maybe a waiting list
    • Sign papers, then start!
Important: A waiting list is not a no. Spots open all year — keep your phone on.
The earliest start you can give them. You're doing something wonderful.
