  1. Step 1 of 5: See if you qualify

    • Work or school 24+ hrs a week
    • 35 hrs for two-parent homes
    • Kids up to 12
    • Up to 18 with a disability
  2. Step 2 of 5: Get your papers ready

    • ID, lease, or utility bill
    • Child's birth certificate
    • Shot records
    • Proof of income and work
  3. Step 3 of 5: Apply on Georgia Gateway

    Important: Money is limited — CAPS is not an entitlement, and priority groups get funded first.
  4. Step 4 of 5: Wait for your answer

    • Within 30 calendar days
    • Approval or denial notice
  5. Step 5 of 5: Use your scholarship

    • Pick a provider, even a relative
    • Copay up to 7% of your income
    • Renew every year
    Important: You must redo your paperwork every year to keep your scholarship.
    Good to know: DECAL covers the rest of the cost up to a maximum rate. Your family's care is on the way!
