  1. Step 1 of 5: See if you qualify

    Income and activity rules

    • Income under the limit
    • You work or study
    • Job searching counts too
    Good to know: Since July 2023, you do not have to work with Child Support Services to get this help.
  2. Step 2 of 5: Get your papers ready

    • Pay stubs or work letter
    • Photo ID
    • Lease or utility bill
    • Child's birth certificate
    Important: You need an email address for the attendance tracking system.
  3. Step 3 of 5: Send in your application

    Important: Rules can be a little different in each county. Check with your local office.
  4. Step 4 of 5: Wait for your answer

    • About 14 to 15 days
    • Interview if your county asks
    Important: Some counties have waitlists because money is limited.
  5. Step 5 of 5: Pick your child care

    • Choose a licensed provider
    • Plan a start date with them
    Good to know: Once you are approved and pick a provider, your child care help can begin.
