  1. Step 1 of 5: See if this fits you

    • You work, study, or train for a job
    • Kids under 13, or up to 18 special needs
    • Your family meets income guidelines
    Don't miss: Your provider must be licensed, certified, or registered with DES.
  2. Step 2 of 5: Get your papers ready

    • Birth certificate or ID
    • Pay stubs or employer letter
    • Utility bill or lease
    • Work schedule or school papers
  3. Step 3 of 5: Apply for the program

    Pick the way that works for you

  4. Step 4 of 5: Wait for your answer

    • Usually within 30 days
    • A caseworker checks your papers
    • You get a letter with the answer
  5. Step 5 of 5: Start your child care

    • DES pays part of the bill to your provider
    • You pay a co-pay based on your income
    • Renew every 6 to 12 months
